ABSTRACT

To evaluate the diagnostic value of urinary protein and creatinine in combination with renal Doppler ultrasound examination in early renal damage of patients with hypertension. One hundred twenty two hypertensive patients who were treated in our hospital from December 2013 to June 2014 were selected for this study, including 33, 41 and 48 cases of Stage I, Stage II and Stage III hypertension respectively. Meanwhile, 30 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. They received urinary protein, creatinine and renal Doppler ultrasound examination. The urinary protein levels of Stage I, II and Stage III hypertensive patients were significantly different from that of the control group [p<0.05]. Urinary creatinine levels were similar [p>0.05] in stage I and II but different from control [p<0.05] in stage III. Doppler ultrasound examination showed that Stage I hypertensive patients had similar renal longest diameter [RLD], renal parenchymal thickness [RPT] and ratio of RPT/renal sinus thickness to those of the control group [p>0.05], and RLDs of Stage II hypertensive patients and the control group were not significantly different [p>0.05]. Urinary protein and creatinine levels in combination with renal Doppler ultrasound examination could diagnose early renal damage in patients with hypertension

ABSTRACT

Based on the ambition of students, the stomatological laboratory teaching was set as an independent course and experiment teaching was conducted in stages and modular method. The stomatological laboratory teaching course was separated to four modules: basic oral medicine laboratory teaching module, clinical oral medicine laboratory teaching module, creating experimental teaching training module and professional training module. The experimental teaching is to explore new thinking and new mode for enhancement of students' clinic skill and creating ability.

ABSTRACT

To promote the combination of basic medical education and clinic medical edu-cation,we carried out the exploration on stomatological human anatomy course linked up with imi-tative oral clinic teaching. The evaluation to the effect of the teaching methods showed that it could induce the stomatological students to apply the theory to the clinic practice, consolidate their mas-tery and understanding of stomatological human anatomy and train their ability to acquire knowledge actively.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the influence of EGb761 on NOS expression and survival of motoneurons after spinal root avulsion.METHODS: Eighty adult SD female rats were randomly divided into control and EGb761 groups. The C5-T1 nerve roots of right brachial plexus were avulsed and injection of 1 mL of either EGb761 25 mg?kg -1 ?d -1 or normal saline (ip) was performed everyday. The treated rats were killed 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks following avulsion. The cryostat sections of C7 segment of every rat were collected and carried with NADPH-d histochemistry plus neutral red counterstain. The difference of the numbers of both NOS-positive and survival motoneurons were quantitatively studied. RESULTS: Following avulsion, NOS was expressed in avulsed motoneurons at 1 week, reached to its maximum at 2 weeks and then decreased gradually from 4 weeks to 6 weeks. Motoneurons died from 4 weeks to 6 weeks. With EGb761 treatment, the number of NOS-positive motoneurons were decreased at each time point and the number of survival motoneurons was increased at each time point compared to control rats.CONCLUSIONS: EGb761 protected the spinal cord motoneurons from avulsion injury. This effect may be related to inhibition of NOS expression.
